Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) became the centre of a lot of unwanted attention during Monday’s double-bill of Coronation Street as she found herself arrested for indecent exposure. This was at the same time Tim (Joe Duttine) was supposed to be having a triple heart bypass and even though she managed to make it back to the hospital once her spouse was out of surgery, she still wasn’t there for him in the lead-up and to offer her support. However, it seems a sinister force could be trying to separate the two and with the mention of Tim’s ex-wife Charlie Wood (Sian Reeves) in the latest instalments of the ITV soap, she could be the one who is causing all the trouble.
Charlie was last seen on the cobbles two years ago after it was revealed she had married Tim in Las Vegas and they were still husband and wife.
As the father of one was also married to Sally at the time, thinking his trip down the aisle in America was all a faux pas, he realised he was a bigamist.
After some negotiating, Tim and the cobbles stalwart managed to convince Charlie to sign some divorce papers so they could get legally married again.
The guest character hasn’t been heard of or spoken of since so her name cropping up in conversation recently has arisen some interest.
Sitting with her ex-husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the hospital, Sally couldn’t get over how Tim had kept his surgery a secret.
“I cannot believe he lied to me,” the stalwart remarked, before bringing up Charlie as she said: “This is the same man who failed to tell me he was already married.”
Kevin managed to talk some sense into his ex-wife, despite her deciding to dredge up Charlie and how her reappearance in Tim’s life almost destroyed their relationship.
The drama ramped up a notch when Sally was arrested at the hospital and after his surgery was completed, her husband discovered why his wife was in police custody.
Looking at a local newspaper, he saw the picture of Sally urinating in the middle of the street on New Year’s Eve but there was no mention of who took the snapshot.
After being released, Sally spoke with her husband about her arrest and the state of their relationship to see if they could move on from his latest hurdle.
Having been holding a grievance for losing Tim two years ago to Sally, Charlie might be doing her best to ensure Sally gets locked away behind bars.
This way, she would be able to come back into Tim’s life when he is at his most vulnerable and look after him as the doting wife.
As they spend more time together, the father of one could realise why he took an interest in her all those years ago.
With Sally locked up and the family seeming to take well to Charlie being around, the stalwart could be rubbed out of the picture.
Could the beloved cobbles character find herself being sent divorce papers by her spouse as her stalker gets her revenge?
During her stint on the show two years ago, the actress who plays Charlie, Sian, spoke about her character and what makes her tick.
The soap star said: “She hasn’t had much money, or excitement in her life. I think she’s one of those vulnerable people who hasn’t ever been paid much attention or praise so Tim’s sudden appearance really prays on that and works in totally the opposite way to which Tim had intended.
“He’s being so nice to her because he wants her to sign the divorce papers but she thinks he’s being nice to her because he likes her.
“When she then loses her job and gets evicted, and is possibly in money trouble with some people, the fact that Tim is being so kind tells her he must be in love with her.
“Then suddenly everything just seemed to work out; she got a job in the Rovers, a room above the pub, it was like a dream come true for her.”
“Everyone was so nice to her, she was the happiest she had ever been and she was thinking they should give their relationship a go,” she continued.
“She has no idea Tim is married, he said that Sally was his sister. It was written so well, Tim spent most of his time tongue-tied.
“It just all happened so fast and suddenly this woman had got a job on the street and moved into the Rovers.
“Tim was just absolutely stunned by Charlie but he could only be pleasant to her really because she was so nice.”
With Charlie clearly sensing there was more between her and Tim, could she finally make her dream a reality?
