A dog was left looking “like an alpaca” after nipping his groomer midway through a haircut.
Shih Tzu-poodle cross Cheddar bit the PetSmart groomer in Deptford, New Jersey – leaving him with a half-finished lockdown barnet.
Owner Lisa Torres took him to the pet salon on Thursday, June 18 while she finished work – but was called back an hour early because Cheddar had bitten his groomer.
Lisa said: “When I got the call I chuckled a little and thought ‘oh my god, I’m on my way to pick up a lion’, and when I get there it’s the funniest thing in the world.
“I walk into the store and I’m completely embarrassed, like ‘he’s not my dog, he’s a rescue dog, don’t think he’s mine’.
“Because they blow-dried it and everything, he was like a big poof and it was completely unexpected.
“The groomer apologised and asked if I wanted to try [again], but I said ‘no, it’s okay, we can just go’ and I completely understood because I wouldn’t want to be carrying on after I got bit.
“When I got into the car I just found it hilarious because he was sort of looking at me like ‘what’s wrong mum, this is what I was going for’.
“I called my boyfriend and told him ‘I have tears in my eyes, my stomach is hurting and I can’t even pull off because Cheddar is sitting here like he’s cool but he’s not, he looks crazy’.
“Now he walks around the house like, ‘this is what I wanted and I don’t know what the problem is’.”
The mum-of-three says she apologised “a thousand times”, paid the full price and even left a tip for the groomer who apologised for not finishing the job.
Lisa, from Gloucester City, New Jersey, US, posted snaps on Facebook of the unfortunate hairdo – racking up over 250,000 likes in the process.
Her post read: “Petsmart finally opened up for grooming so I took Cheddar to get a much-needed cut from his groomer.
“A couple of minutes later I get a call from her saying she couldn’t do his cut because he bit her twice.
“Now I have to walk around with this dude looking crazy.
“I swear when I say I had tears in my eyes and stomach pains from laughing so hard.”
She went on: “I couldn’t even leave the parking lot for a good 10 minutes because I had to get myself together.
“I’m about to give this dude up for adoption, Lol.”
Her Facebook friends flocked to the comments to make comparisons and Lisa found them “hilarious”.
Jennifer Gigi Torres-Clark posted a picture of an alpaca and commented: “I found Cheddar’s role model.”
