A woman’s bizarre cleaning hack for fruit and vegetables has left people stumped – with some suggesting that the odd method could do more harm than good.
TikTok user @smilelop revealed that she washes her fresh veggies in the dishwater by selecting a “light” setting and using white vinegar instead of detergent.
In the odd clip, which has been “liked” more than 7,000 times, the woman shows off a dishwasher bursting full of goodness, including cucumbers, berries, a whole pineapple, avocados, apples, celery, and melon.
She then hits the “start” button and the machine presumably jet-sprays the food with diluted vinegar.
Many of these fruits don’t even need washing because the skin is inedible and discarded – and many viewers in the comments below the video said they would be surprised if the quality held up after a hot dousing.
“Wouldn’t the berries get crushed and the plastic containers melt a bit?” asked one confused person.
“I was also thinking that maybe you steam your vegetables in there,” quipped another viewer.
A third exclaimed: “They would get bruised from jets!”
But the wild method did have some fans, with one person commenting: “Great idea!”
“Thanks for the tip! This was so much easier than hand-washing!” said another viewer.
This comes after Daily Star Online tested a 21p shower cleaning hack that actually worked – getting glass from smeared to gleaming in just 10 minutes.
The nifty method uses a sandwich bag and a few squirts of Cif and worked wonders for the bathroom.
Another cleaning hack reveals how much grime hides inside a wooded spoon – with one mum claiming she felt “disgusted” by the greasy effluent.
