Heart-stopping footage has emerged of a tiny frog charging at a sleeping tiger in a daring attempt to jump onto the big cat’s nose.
The thrilling moment was captured by Indian photographer and safari operator Aditya Singh at the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve in northern India two weeks ago on June 25.
In the clip he posted on Twitter, a tiny brown frog is seen standing on the animal’s front leg and taking a “leap of faith” before launching itself onto the tiger’s nose.
Luckily the wild cat appears to be in deep sleep and only flinches a little when the frog lands onto the snout.
The poor amphibian fails to set its footing on it and eventually falls to the ground.
It holds its pose still for a few seconds for a safety check but the tiger remains asleep.
The video, which has been viewed more than 4,500 times, has brought viewers to the edge of their seats.
Aditya wrote in the comments the tiger was in deep sleep and explained: “The tiger had eaten a lot on a hot day and was slightly injured.”
One viewer joked: “Frog trying to say that… ‘Stop the train. We’ve reached the station.'”
A second wrote: “The frog thought the nostril was its hideout.”
“A sleepy kitty is a happy kitty,” said a third.
A fourth added: “He is the bravest.”
Aditya, who has worked at the tiger reserve for 22 years, replied to a comment that frogs are commonly seen resting on the tiger and it often happens during monsoon seasons.
