A tattoo model broke down in tears after seeing what she looks like without ink.
Amber Luke, who has around 600 designs that sprawl her entire body, covered her face with foundation to create fresh-looking skin.
She wanted to surprise her boyfriend Sam, but the experience brought back difficult memories for her.
The 25-year-old, from Brisbane, Australia, started getting inked after she was diagnosed with depression as a teenager.
On an episode of Hooked On The Look, she said: “My journey started when I was 16-years-old and was diagnosed with severe depression.
“A lot of my tattoos have been like a kind of therapy.”
After sitting in the tattooist’s chair for the first time, Amber’s love for inkings grew.
She has returned hundreds of times – and even braved plastic surgery and body modifications too.
In a bid to feel more comfortable in her skin, the model has had her eyeballs inked and tongue split into a fork.
She’s also had a boob job, dermal piercings and a Brazilian butt lift.
Amber revealed: “How much have I spent on tattoos? My mum likes to cry when I say this number… about $50,000 AUD (around £28,000).
“But that’s just on tattoos, so with my procedures like my breast augmentations, my eyeball tattoos, my tongue splitting and my BBL (Brazilian butt lift) that’s happening it’s about $70,000 AUD (around £40,000).”
While some may judge Amber because of how much money she’s spent on her appearance, she explained that she’s not “materialistic”.
The model believes the money has been worth it because she’s able to look in the mirror and accept herself nowadays.
She added: “I know it sounds very materialistic that I want to change myself so much.
“But imagine hating yourself so much that you couldn’t even look in a mirror or think about going outside the house.
“It was horrific to live through.”
Even though some critics question Amber’s life choices, she refuses to let them hold her back.
She added: “I don’t plan on stopping any time soon…
“These days, I’m just a different person to what I used to be.
“Life happens and you get judged.
“At the end of the day I’m a strong person and I can take it.”
Fans praised Amber for speaking so candidly about her tattoo journey – and many assured her that she looked amazing before and after getting inked.
One commenter remarked: “Hearing her say before all the tattoos, she couldn’t look in the mirror and hated herself, breaks my heart.
“She was beautiful before all the modification.”
Another said: “She is happy and thats all that matters.
“I love tattoos, always express yourself however you want, it’s your life, your happiness, your body.”
And a third added: “You can totally tell she has a wonderful heart and is a very kind person. And if that is how she loves herself then that is amazing!!!”
