Crowded scenes outside pubs over the weekend and ‘illegal raves’ have sparked fears over a second wave of coronavirus in the UK.
Hackney Police overnight has put a dispersal order in place across the E5, E8 and N16 postcodes in London until 11am today due to “unlicensed music events”.
It comes after people in England flocked to pubs and parties on Saturday and Sunday.
Many were well behaved, but drunken brawls were caught on camera across England as pubs re-opened for the first time in three months.
Those who were lax in observing social distancing or caused trouble have been condemned, with the scenes stoking concerns that England could see a surge in cases after restrictions were relaxed.
Police have voiced fears that it is “crystal clear” drunk people cannot safely socially distance.
Beer gardens reopen in Scotland today, while travel restrictions lifted in Wales meaning people can now travel more than five miles.
The arts sector has also been granted a £1.5bn lifeline of government funding designed to help protect theatres, music venues, independent cinemas and heritage sites.
