Mourinho though is still smarting after the Blades defeat – and insisted that Tottenham’s limp away form has to improve if the team are to fight for honours. The Tottenham manager said: “For some reason for a couple of years, the team is showing, especially away from home, weaknesses at this level.
“There are reasons for that – but. I am waiting for the next match with similarities to the Sheffield game – because the boys can show a different face.”
Spurs have won only three times on the road in the league this season – all of them since Mourinho arrived in November. Last term under Mauricio Pochettino, they actually won 11, but the Portuguese insisted: “Away from home, you go to the records and you realise that the results have been really, really bad. The fact that there were no fans at Sheffield adds even more to my disappointment, because there is not the natural supporting habitat the home team has.”
