A sicko hit, stabbed and threw his dog from the third floor of a building resulting in her being fatally injured and dragging her body along the ground for 25 minutes before finally succumbing to her injuries.
The dog, named Sultane, was stabbed with a box opener multiple times by her owner, who had also repeatedly hit her, before he picked her up and threw her out the window of the third-floor apartment in Le Creusot, a commune in the Saone-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte in eastern France.
Sultane, a boxer, then spent 25 painful minutes crawling on the ground before eventually dying.
He was arrested and a court in Chalon-sur-Saone sentenced the man who has not been named but who is reportedly 45 years old to 36 months in prison.
He has also been banned for life from owning an animal.
The animal protection foundation 30 Millions d’Amis was a co-plaintiff in the case.
Eva Souplet, the lawyer for the foundation, said: “It’s one of the most atrocious things we’ve seen. The sentence is fully justified.
“This man knowingly committed these atrocities since he knew he was violent when he was drinking.
“She (Sultane) went through a long and painful ordeal.”
In a separate incident last week, a dog that was cruelly skinned with a knife at the hands of its owner has been rescued after neighbours heard the pup howling in pain.
Horrifying pictures show the extent of El Apolo, a dog living in the city of Hermosillo, the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora.
Local media claim the dog was found with severe burns on its back alongside two large L-shaped cuts likely to have been produced with a sharp weapon.
Neighbours rushed to the dogs aid, where one witness allegedly saw its owner “with a knife in one hand and the bleeding dog in the other.”
