Guardiola recently claimed he would be forced to sell Sane after the winger snubbed numerous contract offers from City.
Despite the terms of his exit, Guardiola wished Sane success with Bayern.
“We wish Leroy all the best in this new chapter of his career,” Guardiola said.
“Leroy has been part of one of the most special periods in this club’s history and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone here at Manchester City.”
Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: “From arriving as a fledgling young talent four years ago, we are proud of the contribution Leroy has made since joining Manchester City. He leaves with many friends and fond memories of his time at the Etihad.”
City hammered Premier League champions Liverpool 4-0 on Thursday night.
The result showed City are ready to put up a fight in the title race next season after falling so far behind their rivals this time out.
