Arsenal’s hopes of signing Thomas Partey could be boosted due to the presence of his Atletico Madrid team-mate Marcos Llorente.
Arsenal have little money to spend in the upcoming transfer market and may have to offload players to raise funds.
The likes of Mohamed Elneny, Matteo Guendouzi and Alexandre Lacazette could all make way to allow manager Mikel Arteta to rebuild the squad how he sees fit.
Partey has a release clause of £45million which the Gunners currently don’t have the cash the trigger.
However, the Ghana international is understood to be keen on moving to the Premier League and Athletico are willing to let him go.
And according to 90min, Athletico believe Llorente is good enough to replace Partey next season and could be willing to discuss a payment structure with Arsenal for the midfielder.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wolves, Arteta was pressed on the rumours linking Arsenal with Partey and while he was unwilling to discuss specific players, he made clear improvement was needed.
He said: “I cannot talk about being interested in any players that are playing in any team that is not ours, sorry. [But] I’m very clear.
“I have a very clear plan and the specificity of the players, the positions and squad balance that we need to compete with the rest of the top teams in the country.
