Next year’s SAG Awards ceremony has been pushed back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards have now been delayed to Sunday, March 14, 2021.
The ceremony had originally been due to take place on January 24, 2021, but the effects of COVID-19 are being felt on the A-list ceremonies.
The move comes after the 93rd Academy Awards were pushed back to Sunday, April 25, 2020 despite the Oscars usually being handed out in the first two months of the year.
This will mean that the criteria for eligibility will be altered to be in line with the new dates for the SAG awards.
Last year’s ceremony saw a number of memorable moments with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Many big names lost out in the ensemble category as South Korean thriller Parasite took home the biggest award for the night, with director Bong Joon-ho’s cast winning the award for Best Performance by an Ensemble.
Joaquin Phoenix won Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Arthur Fleck in Joker, but he used his acceptance speech to pay tribute to the late Heath Ledger, who previously played the Clown Prince of Crime in The Dark Knight.
“Really, I’m standing here on the shoulders of my favorite actor, Heath Ledger,” he noted.
Elsewhere, Renee Zellweger took home the Best Female Actor award for her turn as Judy Garland in Judy, while Laura Dern won the Best Performance by a Female Actor in Supporting Role for her turn in Marriage Story and Brad Pitt was awarded the equivalent Male award for his work in Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Brad also gave a memorable speech at the ceremony, including poking fun at his director’s love of the human foot in his movies.
The most jaw-dropping moment of the night had to go to an event backstage that got the whole world talking: the reunion of Brad with his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston.
The actress had already taken home an award for her leading role in Apple TV drama series The Morning Show, but the snap that showed her jubilantly talking backstage with her ex-husband saw fans of the former couple given hope of a potential reconcilliation.
