With long days and balmy evenings finally here, the time is right for spending time outside sipping Aperol Spritz.
While extremely tasty and pretty-looking, buying all the elements required to make the drink – including the Aperol (£16 at Sainsbury’s), prosecco, soda water and oranges – can really add up.
Which is why we were excited to hear that Lidl has brought back its own version of Aperol for half the price. We can’t wait to stock up.
Priced at £7.99, the Italian aperitif has an ABV percentage of 15% and is perfect for enjoying at summer gatherings. Bitterol will be hitting store shelves from Thursday 2nd July, so be sure to get your hands on a bottle before they sell out.
Lidl recommends paring the beverage with its Allini Prosecco Frizzante (£4.99) and a dash of soda for a tasty and vibrant cocktail.
For a twist on the classic spritz, the supermarket also suggests creating a ‘Bitterol Frosecco’ by mixing two parts Bitterol with two parts Allini Prosecco Frizzante and one part soda water. Serve by pouring over crushed ice in a large wine glass with a sprig of mint.
Sadly, Bitterol won’t be available to buy online – so you’ll need to head down to your nearest Lidl store to buy it. Find your nearest Lidl by using the online store finder.
Meanwhile, bottles of Malibu Strawberry Spritz are being sold at Tesco for only £7.50 – down from £9.50.
The summery drink is described as a sparkling rum spritz with hints of strawberry and coconut. Shoppers can pick up the discounted tipple in stores nationwide as well as online at tesco.com.
