Manchester United’s transfer priorities have been relatively firm throughout the last few months, with a few big targets remaining on their shopping list and a handful no longer required by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
However, amid an uncertain market, the Red Devils’ status as a financially healthy club ensures they’ll continue to be linked with a variety of players who might not be available to other potential suitors.
The latest transfer talk doesn’t just surround incomings, though, with talk about a United star’s potential summer exit also coming to the fore as we round up the latest news from the UK and around the world.
The one condition which could still see Pogba leave United
Paul Pogba has looked the part for United since his return from injury, winning a penalty at Tottenham Hotspur and dovetailing well with Bruno Fernandes in the win over Sheffield United.
All of this has led to suggestions he may now stay at Old Trafford and remain a big part of manager Solskjaer’s plans, with fans getting excited about his burgeoning partnership with Fernandes in the middle of the park.
While a summer exit isn’t entirely out of the question, it appears Ed Woodward’s stance on such a move has softened.
According to L’Equipe, via the Express, the United CEO may still be prepared to sanction a departure for the Frenchman, but only if he is able to secure a player of comparable quality in exchange.
Failing that, it seems there’s every chance Pogba sticks around and United supporters get a chance to see their midfield pair together for a full season in 2020/21.
Estudiantes still working on Rojo deal despite lockdown breach
Argentine club Estudiantes were reportedly frustrated with United loanee Marcos Rojo for breaking quarantine, but reports from South America suggest this hasn’t put them off a permanent move for the defender.
Rojo rejoined his former club on loan in January, only for the 2019/20 season to get curtailed after just 23 games and eventually suspended for good.
However, Estudiantes are still keen on a permanent switch, according to Argentine publication Ole, via Sport Witness.
Former United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron is president of Estudiantes, and he has reportedly encouraged Rojo’s agent to speak to the English club with a view to bringing down the Reds’ £10million asking price.
United are believed to be keen to get the defender off their books, but the transfer fee could be a sticking point.
United ‘win race’ for teenage Barcelona star
United is expected to be the next destination for Barcelona talent Marc Jurado after the teenager confirmed his exit from the Catalan club.
The 16-year-old defender, who has been with the club since the age of nine, posted a farewell message on social media ahead of what the Evening Standard reports will be a six-figure move to Old Trafford.
Barca would be due around £175,000 in compensation for the youngster, the report claims.
Jurado is understood to have turned down a “lucrative” contract offer to stay at Camp Nou.
The Manchester Evening News reports that the right-back is expected to join United’s under-18 squad, having said of his Barca spell: “I leave behind unforgettable memories which will always stay with me.”
