Liam Payne sweetly told the world that his son Bear “constantly inspires” him to be a better person.
The former One Direction star, 26, who shares the three-year-old with ex Cheryl, 37, spoke of his love for the little one during The Diana Awards, which recognises the social action and humanitarian efforts of children and young adults.
He spoke about Bear after being asked what motivates him by a young award-winner.
Liam said: “I think, for me, on a daily basis my three-year-old son constantly inspires me.
“The thing in that is that it inspires you to do better.”
He added that he “finally started to become a man” following his son’s birth.
“It kind of changed my views on a lot of different things and the way I was living my life, and I think it just continues on in me every single day that I just want to be better and better for him, really,” he added.
Liam added that he and Cheryl “speak quite a lot about him doing something to help the world out”.
“I often think, for his life, that would be so satisfying,” he added.
“It gives you more for your soul, I think, than anything else and I’d love him to find a job to do like that, really.”
The Duke of Sussex, The Vamps star James McVey, actor Will Poulter and actress Dame Emma Thompson were among those to address the award winners.
It comes after Cheryl revealed her plans to ensure Liam gets to spend more time with Bear as soon as it’s safe for him to do so during the coronavirus lockdown.
The former Girls Aloud star is said to be considering asking Liam to move into her Buckinghamshire home.
Liam has been in his London flat throughout the lockdown and has spoken openly about his emotional phone calls with his son.
He even missed Bear’s third birthday over fears he could have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus during his busy tour schedule.
Liam said: “It was a really tough call to not go down for his birthday and I discussed it with Cheryl and we just thought it was the best option.
“It was horrible, missing out on it wasn’t great, I got a lot of pictures and videos and FaceTime, but that’s the hardest thing.
“It’s been the most difficult thing for all of us. But I think the technology that was pushing us quite far apart is now bringing us closer together in this time, more so than ever.”
A source close to Cheryl has since said she’s thinking about asking him to move in so he can make up for lost time.
The insider told Heat : “Lockdown has really got Cheryl thinking about her future and what is going to happen with Liam.
“Liam hasn’t been able to see Bear and it’s been so hard on all of them. She and Liam still get on really well and Cheryl has suggested that he move back in with them for a while when it’s all over.
“She has such a big house, so there’s lots of space and thinks it will be great for Bear to have them both around.”
