With this year’s Glastonbury Festival cancelled, attention will be turning towards next year’s event.
Co-organisers Michael and Emily Eavis have already confirmed the dates and ticket information for Glastonbury 2021, which will take place from June 23-27.
This year would have marked half a century of live music at Worthy Farm.
But while this year’s event has been cancelled, the 50-year celebrations are merely postponed.
In a statement, organisers Michael and Emily Eavis have said: “We were so looking forward to welcoming you all for our 50th anniversary with a line-up full of fantastic artists and performers that we were incredibly proud to have booked.”
2020 was due to be the year Kendrick Lamar made his Worthy Farm debut when he performed his headline set on the Friday.
Sir Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift were the other two headline acts, with Sunday’s Legends slot on the Pyramid Stage being occupied by Diana Ross.
Glastonbury 2021 line-up
But while dates and tickets are planned, who will be at next year’s Glastonbury Festival?
No musicians have been confirmed yet for next year’s event – not even those due to appear in 2020.
However McCartney looks doubtful.
This year’s appearance was due to be the finale of his 2020 summer tour, but a statement on his website says: “Given current and future work commitments it has not been possible to find alternative dates.”
Earlier this week the first act publicly invited to Glastonbury 2021 was Jessie Ware.
Co-organiser Emily Eavis appeared as a guest on her podcast, where she asked the singer: “Jessie, are you up for coming back next year? I mean, I’m thinking we make a plan now.
Jessie enthusiasticly responded: “Absolutely, one hundred percent. I was like there, watching my opportunity to play this album pass me by.
“Oh my god, absolutely! I now have it, in audible confirmation, I’m coming, I will absolutely be there, with bells on!”
One band originally linked with this year’s Glastonbury Festival was Aerosmith.
In the end they were not on the 2020 line-up, but rumours are resurfacing about an appearance next year.
The American rockers have two UK dates in next year’s tour which straddle Glastonbury – The O2 in London on June 23 and Manchester Arena six days later
Other rumoured artists include:
Beans on Toast
Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip
Pet Shop Boys
The Isley Brothers
Thom Yorke: Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes
